How to set up OTP phone verification in a campaign

To make your campaigns even more secure and ensure the quality of your collected data, you can implement OTP (One-Time Password) phone verification. This feature allows you to validate a participant's phone number in real-time by sending a unique code via SMS that must be entered to complete the participation.

How it works

Once the technical connection is established between Qualifio and your SMS provider, you will be able to activate the verification directly within your campaign settings, at the Form step, in the data validation tab.

Standard OTP Configuration

By default, the Qualifio built-in OTP generator follows a strict security configuration to ensure a smooth yet secure user experience:

  • Code length: 6 digits.
  • Code format: Numeric.
  • Validity: 5 minutes (300 seconds).
  • Verification attempts: 3 attempts allowed per code.
  • Resend limit: 6 total sends (1 initial + 5 resends).
  • Cooldown: 1 minute (60 seconds) wait time between resends.
  • Lockout: 24 hours (86,400 seconds) if the maximum attempts or sends are reached.

Pricing & Requirements

  • Activation fee: €1,000 (one-time setup).
  • Add-on usage fee: €1,200/year.

Additionally, you must have an existing contract with an SMS provider (e.g., Twilio) as Qualifio doesn't send SMS directly. All variable costs associated with sending SMS messages are billed directly by your provider.

Step 1: Requesting the integration

To begin the setup, please contact your Customer Success Manager, who will introduce you to our awesome Solution architect team (integrations@qualifio.com). You will need to provide the following information from your SMS provider:

  • Endpoint URL to trigger SMS service (shared by your SMS provider)
  • API Key & API Secret to access the SMS service
  • Sender Name & Phone Number (the identity that will appear on the participant's phone)
  • Country restrictions: List any countries you wish to explicitly allow or deny (e.g., "Only allow Turkish and US numbers").

Step 2: Activating phone number verification in your campaign

Once our team confirms the integration is active for your account, follow these steps to enable it in a campaign:

  1. Open your Campaign and go to the Form step.
  2. Scroll down to the Data validation section (located below the form fields).
  3. Check the box for Qualifio Phone Verification.
  4. Save your changes.

💡 Pro-tip: When enabled, participants will see a popin appear after submitting the form, describing the process to validate the participation. By clicking on the button, participant will trigger the SMS sending.

They must enter the received code on their mobile phone to proceed. This effectively eliminates fake leads and bot entries.
