Tag categories let you decide where each tag of the Tag Library can be used. Your team then only sees the tags that fit the screen they are working on: a tag manager is not loaded twice, and a design tag does not end up in your tracking tags.

Before getting started
✅ Permission required: Account Admin by default. In User rights, you can let Marketers, Editors or both create and edit tags in the Tag Library. Learn more: User roles
Your existing tags are in the Other category and can be used everywhere, so nothing changes until you edit them.
Set where a tag can be used
- Select Privacy from the menu, then Tag Library.
- On the Tags page, open a tag or click Create a tag.
- Choose a Category. Qualifio ticks the places this kind of tag usually needs.
- Under Allowed in, adjust the places if needed. Greyed-out boxes cannot be changed for this category.
- Click Save.
A tag needs a category and at least one place before you can save it.
Where can a tag be used?
- Tags section: the tags of a campaign (Channels step) and of a website.
- HTML editors: tags inserted in text editors.
- Minisite Look & Feel: minisites and minisite templates.
- Campaign Look & Feel: the campaign Look & Feel and campaign templates.
Which category should I choose?
- Third-party: analytics and marketing tags (pixels) and your consent management (CMP) script. Tags section and both Look & Feels by default.
- Data layer event: events sent to the Qualifio data layer. Tags section and Campaign Look & Feel by default, never on minisites.
- Tag manager: your tag manager container, such as Google Tag Manager. Always on minisites, never in HTML editors or the Campaign Look & Feel.
- Design: tags that change how your pages look. Minisite and Campaign Look & Feel only.
- Other: anything else. All four places, all can be changed.
Keep your tag manager at minisite level only. It can also be allowed in the Tags section, but loading it twice can skew your data. See Using the Qualifio Tag Library with a tag manager.
How do I find tags by category?
In the Tag Library, open the filter options and choose a Category or a Placement. Set Category to Other to review the tags you have not categorised yet.
