In Qualifio, we sometimes use global variables in case of integrations. For instance, it might allow us to pass an FTP password, a webhook URL, or an API key. If you have an integration running with us, your Qualifio expert might create those for you and ask you to fill them out. They can be active at 4 different levels, and their value is inherited from their parent level. Here's how it works.
Note: Global variables configuration is available to account administrators only. They can review global variables and fill out some information about them. However, only Qualifio team members can create global variables.
Global variables at the account level
To access the global variables of your account:
- Click Settings in the menu bar. The settings page opens.
- In the Setup section, click Advanced features. The list of all advanced features opens.
- Scroll down to Global variables.
- You will only see Global variables that are not linked to an integration in that section. To see the Global Variables linked to a specific integration, visit the Integration & Partners menu.
Global variables at the website level
To access the global variables of a website:
- Click Settings in the menu bar. The settings page opens.
- In the Setup section, click Websites. The list of all configured websites opens.
- Click your website, then click the Global variables tab.
- You will only see Global variables that are not linked to an integration in that section. To see the Global Variables linked to a specific integration, visit the Integration & Partners menu.
Global variables at the campaign level
To access the global variables of a campaign:
- Click Campaign in the menu bar. The list of all your campaigns opens.
- In your campaign, click Settings.
- Click Data pushes, then scroll down to global variables.
Global variables at the channel level
To access the global variables of a particular publication channel in a campaign:
- Click Campaign in the menu bar. The list of all your campaigns opens.
- In your campaign, click Channels.
- Scroll down to Tags, then click the Global variables tab.
Required or optional variable?
It is possible to set a global variable as required/mandatory to operate your data integration or push. In that case, it will not be possible to save the screen (regardless of the level: Advanced features, Website, campaign Form/Settings or channel Tags) until a value has been defined for the variable. An error message will be displayed with the name of the variable with a missing value:
